The ALC

English is an international language. Since I was a child, I have always been   fascinated by the way the Americans speak and manage conversations.
I started learning English when I was in the primary school, I used to repeat those many words I learned throughout the day with a lasting smile upon my face..Year after year my English improved, and in order to learn more vocabulary and learn to speak fluently, I decided to enroll in the ALC..
I began by Beg6 class, and I still remember how much I was happy and excited to learn more and more...During one year ( 7 sessions), my skills got really improved... Before, I wasn't even able to have a real conversation with someone else... now it has changed, I learned to love this language, love to talk English, love to write in English...the teachers developed my self-confidence, they taught me that with perseverance everything can be made..
What wonderful memories ! These English classes in the ALC were absolutely amazing, I met new people, I made many friends, I laughed so hard, I shouted , I sang.. I still remember when I was in Inter 3 class and Mr Jamal took us to Aljawhara and paid pizza for us, this class was very special, I miss those days...
The ALC has become a lovely place for me, I spend so much fun there. Thus, I signed up for the Adv1 class and I'm looking forward to take it..But I still have to revise my lessons and get ready to the final exam next week in order to pass .. I wish a good luck for all my classmates, they all deserve it !

Mayor's speech

     My fellow citizens,
I stand here today grateful for the trust you have bestowed and mindful of the sacrifices that must be done to develop our city. Fez has come to a crossroad and that's why I decided to make some changes.
First of all, Traffic has become a total mess in our city, everybody gets stuck at those traffic jams especially at rush hours, that's why I'm planning to widen the roads, in addition, more traffic lights should be installed .More police officers must also be hired to control the movement of traffic and enable people to arrive at time to their jobs.
Second, economic development is on the minds of most of you, particularly with regard to our downtown area. For many years, economic prosperity has been neglected and I plan to change all of that. I am proposing a city center revitalization project that would promote new businesses, new residential areas, and new open green areas to bring people back to the heart of our city.
Third, crime and violence are increasing these last months in our city,  in order to restore peace and security, we have put some surveillance cameras in several areas as you can see and we're struggling to keep you safe.
Finally, I hope that  you are satisfied with all the efforts that we provide and I promise you to do all my best to improve our city Fez and make it the best in the country.
Thank you.
Mr the Mayor

To the mayor...

Dear mayor HAMID CHABAT,
Let me introduce myself, I'm Yasmine Filali, a simple civilian of Fes city. You may be surprised by my letter but with all my respects to you, I just want to discuss a few points about our city. We do have a beautiful one, we are all grateful to you for all the projects that you made since you're the mayor. We can not deny that you realize good things, such us street projects, buildings, hospitals, buses..
However, our life in this city needs to be improved, changed, protected from many problems and breaking rules. There are too many cars, that causes a lots of accidents and air pollution, especially during working days when the majority of people drive their cars to work. For that, I do have one sollution as a proposition: their should be fewer cars and more traffic lights. It could stop or just reduce traffic. I also mentioned breaking rules, I meant "corruption" which has many distronary impacts and it's a huge obstacle for the developpenment of our city. So we have to be more attentive, punish every briber and avoid using it yourself. There should be more police officers and more street lights in dark areas because crimes are increasing day after day. I think people deserve to feel safe and live in peace. In summary I wish that you could understand me and that you will try to acheve some of my ideas.
Sorry for waisting your time and thank you mister the mayor

Moroccan movies

"From dumb to dumber" that's their perfect slogan !

Moroccan movies production is getting worse year after year, with no taste of humor and drama
stories that show you only the worst and ugliest side of our society.. I wonder what impression would have a foreigner about our country while seeing one of those movies... obviously a bad one !
It's true that a big part of those stories is realistic but it's through movies that we have to change it and sensitize people, in this context, there's a new film that I've watched last week and has impressed me titled : God's Horses with the well-known director Nabil Ayouch. This film is an intimate portrait of boys growing up in a toxic environment...Powerfully narrated and convincingly acted without talking down to any of its characters, God’s Horses takes the viewer inside an immense Moroccan slum and describes the no-future lives of its inhabitants; very gradually it gets around to showing how fundamentalist recruiters entrenched themselves there after 9/11 and used it as a hunting ground for terrorists and suicide bombers. I really liked this movie because it's ultimately based on true events, further more, it will influence the citizens and show them that terrorism is nothing but a crime ..I hope that Moroccan producers will invest in more educational scripts in order to improve  our society awareness.

A predicament

Last Saturday,I had an awkward experience.. I went shopping with my best friend downtown, as usual we began with our favorite boutique, then we tried a lot of clothes and shoes.. Finally, I decided to buy a beautiful red dress , my friend payed for her things then suddenly, when I had to pay I looked for my purse in my handbag but didn't find it ! It was very embarrassing!  The cashier was waiting for the money when I remembered that I had forgotten my purse at home, I've never felt that way before..I didn't know what to do ! It was a very humiliating situation..

My story ...

My name's Yasmine, and here is my story ...
3 years before, I was a girl like any other 15 years old girl, I was living peacefully, I had many friends, I was studying in a reputable high school and was  brilliant in my studies , further more, I was a good pianist and I had a beautiful voice, I used to sing to all my friends and my family , they were proud of me... I think I had everything a girl could wish to have...But  as they say, nothing lasts forever..
March 11, 2011 the day that was supposed to be a rite of my passage, it was my first performance, the first time I stand in front of 200 000 people to sing my favorite song by Oum Kalthoum called ' Inta Omri', this day could have led me to a great career of singer ans maybe to the hall of fame, it was a life changing opportunity... I had already sang this song for several times and it wasn't a big deal for me, as my turn came, I stood with a big self confidence, the musicians began to play, everything was perfect until I had to sing, I raised my voice but ... I couldn't hear anything, I was on trouble..  I wasn't even able to talk, I shout and shout and shout again, but nothing was heard, I had no voice, the music stopped, nobody understood what happened, my parents and the organizers joined me, I was shaking and crying with all my strength but with no voice.. they took me to the emergencies and that's where the doctor told them that I had a shock and had lost my voice forever..
All of my dreams were destroyed, I depressed and wanted to die, for me everything was devoid of colors.. I didn't want to see anyone or talk to anyone, I went out of school and I locked myself in my room for one year.. It was so hard to get used to this, but I thanked god for everything and hanged to life ...
Now, I returned to school and I'm persevering to succeed, I reconnected with all of my friends and learned to be happy with what I have, because we can't get everything in life . I have another dreams currently and I'll do my best to make them come true ...
